THELMA CRAWFORD, cleveland 19-01-2007 16:21:13

MR CRAWFORD, I HAVE AFRICAN MAPS DATED IN THE YEAR OF 1874-1877. THE MAP STATES HENRY M. STANLEY EXPLORATIONS OF LAND AND WATER IN EQUATORIAL AFRICA. THE MAP ALSO HAS MR. STANLEY'S SIGNATURE INCLUDING RED ARROW MARKING, WHICH I ASSUME IS WHERE HIS JOURNEY BEGAN. MY GRANDFATHER BESTOWED THESE AND VARIOUS OTHER ITEMS TO MY FATHER K.CRAWFORD, WHO PASSED THEM TO ME. I HAVE MORE DETAILS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS WITH YOU REGARDING THESE MAPS. I WAS VERY INTRIGUED AS WELL AS FASCINATED BY THE NARRATIVE AND DOCUMENTARY REGARDING MR. STANLEY. I FIND IT ALSO FASCINATING THAT IT STATES IN THE DOCUMENTARY THAT HIS ITEMS WERE BURIED WITH HIM ON HIS EXPLORATION, WHICH LEAVES ME TO WONDER WHERE AND HOW THE MAP GOT INTO MY GRANDFATHER'S HANDS TO BESTOW TO MY FATHER. COULD IT POSSIBLY BE THAT THE PEOPLE BURIED HIS ITEMS KEPT SOME OF THE MAPS?

I was researching on a mosque in Africa named: Larabanga mosque.
When I saw these lovely pictures I couldn't resist having a browse around on them.It is a shame that I was unable to print them and use as a picture for my project however I do understand why they are protected. I was stunned at the upmost high quality pictures that rooted my to my seat!!!I thank the editor for all the hard work put into the site!!!

Came across your page when looking up some info about northern ghana. I was blessed enough to take a trip there two years agoa nad ahve been itching to get back ever since. I love Africa. To me it is the most wonderful place on the face of the earth, but still with so many problems that need fixing(most of which can be traced back to outsiders screwing things up). I particularly love the northern regions of the country. I had a chance to see domango, larabanga, and mole. Loved your pictures. beautiful and inspirational. They definately capture Ghana for who she is.

Salut Jacob,

Merci, merci beaucoup Jacob.

Hejsan Jacob !

When an african friend introduced me to African jazz/music (though i cant understand the lyrics %¤#!?) during my first year in Sweden - I JUST LOVED IT !
Africans are often "misunderstood" people, but actually THEY ARE LOVELY, HEART-WARMING AND HAPPY AS THEIR CULTURE ARE AS DIVERSE and COLORFUL.
You are doing a great job - What better way (than simply giving financial aid) to increase understanding, awareness and knowledge on the PRIDE of Africa - its people, its culture and its diversity. KEEP IT UP and MORE POWER !!!

Thanks for sharing vital and informative information to the world about Africa and it's rich and diverse culture. I'm a black female trying to get in touch with my roots. (but that's another story). Black beauty and culture have been unfairly ignored here in the United States. Thanks Again for reminding me that black culture and people are beautiful and regardless of race, people should understand and not be so close minded.

Hej Jacob.
Meget inspirerende hjemmeside...
Mange hilsner Anne Mette

This is an awesome site, WOW!! I am sooo impressed with your site. I am starting an NGO and want to link my website (when I build it) to yours and also to use some of your great pictures. I tried to write this in the email format but it wasn't working. I really appreciate your passion for Africa, I am from Ghana originally and totally consumed with Africa in general and Ghana in particular. Thank you soooo much.

Hi, i just came across your site as a mere coincidence and must tell you that it had me glued to it for a while, i love your sections on africa ,I'm basically from India and i feel this is another country which still has its raw appeal mixed with some amount of modernism, the cultures here are varied and extremely colourful.you shuld make a visit here someday.

My name is pooja and i live in mumbai in India , work as a choreographer , had a soul reaching experience when i did a documentary film called PROXIMITAS with an icelandic director which dealt with the closeness that the countries share, though we are so far apart. I just visited your country in january 2006 this yr,not that i got a lot to see becos the severe winters, but had a pleasant stay for sure. just thought i shuld write in and appreciate your work. Good luck for all your future assignments.
arm wishes
pooja

I was born in America but my father and much of my family is in Cameroon - I am most interested in hearing your experience and have enjoyed your site. My great grandfather was a chief of the Bamileke people and i am in the process of seeking more info. I have never been to cameroon so my trip this fall will be an eye opener. Thank you for the site and the pictures which have made me want to go even more.

Hi Jacob,
I am a cameroonian living in Brighton and working as IT analyst. I was bored and decided to browse the net today. The first idea that came in mind was to see if I could find pictures from Cameroon.
To my astonishment I found yours with a detailed description of my childwood...ie pictures of families, villages, events, paths...
I must admit the sun in Brighton this morning(after 4 months of darkness)stopped me from packing all my stuff and heading back to Douala where I am from.
Your pictures are fantastic and I would not know how thank you for making these available on the net.
Keep up with the good work and I hope you still visit Cameroon?
Who knows, our paths might cross in Cameroon someday.

Best regards,
Alain

Hej Jacob!

Hi Jacob,
I ran into your site by accident, but I am glad I did. I was searching for 'Africa/African' movies, etc. and then your site was listed for photos.

Anyways, thanks for sharing your site and letting others have a looky loo at you and about you.

You seem like a great person to have as a friend. And I'm sure you have many with all of your traveling.

My husband and I have joined with friends in a non-profit with intersts in the US, Kenya and Vietnam so far.

Anyways, I haven't looked at many of your photographs yet but look forward to doing so.

Take care.
Health and Peace in this new year.
Sincerely, Kim
